Two ADI Members Receive Canada Research Chair Appointments
Edmonton… Alberta Diabetes Institute Members Dr. James Shapiro (Department of Surgery) and Dr. Gavin Oudit (Division of Cardiology, Department of Medicine) were among eleven Faculty Members from the University of Alberta receiving Canada Research Chair Appointments. Dr. Shapiro's new Tier 1 appointment will focus on increasing the quality and quantity of transplantable organs as well as improving beta cell replacement therapy, while Dr. Oudit received a new Tier 2 appointment that will be used to translate technologies for heart failure patients using the Human Explanted Heart Program (HELP).
