Local Student Global Citizen Global Citizenship Symposium

Date: October 14, 2009 - 4:00pm

Location: 129 Education

The Global Education Network, Faculty of Education International Office, University of Alberta International, and University Teaching Services presented a symposium on Global Citizenship Education. Global citizenship education involves linking local and global issues and perspectives and may include such topics as human rights, social justice and citizenship education, sustainable development and globalization. Throughout the symposium we aimed to tackle the question: Citizenship, social responsibility and a university education: What is the connection?

We featured a Keynote by Dr. Lynn Mario de Souza of the University of Sao Paulo, titled "Another Voice: Transdisciplinary conceptions and possibilities for Global Citizenship Education"
