Program Information Sessions

Information sessions:

Multiple information sessions will be made available to allow prospective residents an opportunity to learn about our program. Sessions will include:

Program orientation

Program orientation and information sessions will be made available during the CaRMS interview period. Sessions will be conducted virtually, offering an opportunity for candidates to meet with the program director and learn about the program. Candidates offered an interview will be emailed directly an invitation to RSVP for an orientation/information session.

Interviews

Family Medicine CaRMS 2024 Round 1 Interviews

Interviews will be conducted during the National Interview Period. Dates are listed below. Please note that the urban and rural programs have separate interviews, so if you apply for both, you may have two interviews and orientations to attend.

Urban Interviews
January 20, 21, 24 and 27

Rural Interviews
February 3 and 4

AIMG Interviews
January 26, 27 and 28

Candidates invited for interviews will be emailed directly with an opportunity to schedule their interviews from the available dates. All interviews will be conducted virtually.

Notification/Invitation

Program will notify all applicants through CaRMS Online and will send email invitations directly to applicants selected for an interview.

Opportunities for an online program orientation and information session with the program director will be available during the interview period.

An interview portion where applicants will have the opportunity to meet an interview team “face to face” (virtually) to share their passion and desire for family medicine and for the UofA program in particular will be held. This will also provide the opportunity for those that are not sure of their choice to ask questions and decide if our specialty and our program are the best fit for them.

*For Rural Candidates the interview portion will be specific to rural family medicine.

International Medical Graduates

IMGs who wish to apply for postgraduate medical training positions in Alberta are eligible to apply to IMG positions at the University of Alberta and the University of Calgary provided they have applied to and been assessed as eligible by the Alberta International Medical Graduate Program (AIMG) Program.

The AIMG Program determination of eligibility to participate in the match process is valid for the specified match year only. Please visit the AIMG Program website for details on deadlines, eligibility criteria and the application process.
