Dr. Melanie Lewis

Dr. Melanie Lewis

Dr. Lewis supported undergraduate learners, postgraduate and graduate learners in the FoMD at the U of A from 2010-2021 as the Associate Dean in the Office of Advocacy & Wellbeing. She is a professor of pediatrics; a consultant pediatrician at the Stollery Children’s Hospital, caring for both inpatient and ambulatory patients; and director of the Edmonton Down Syndrome Clinic that she co-founded. 

Dr. Lewis earned her medical degree from the University of Calgary and completed her pediatric residency at the University of Alberta. She completed her Master’s degree in Medical Education with the University of Dundee, Scotland, UK in 2008.

She has published on learners and faculty wellbeing and is committed to supporting a healthier learning and work culture in academic medicine.
