Orthodontics Graduate Program

 

Welcome to the School of Dentistry’s Orthodontics Graduate Program at the University of Alberta

In this program, graduate students who are licensed dentists training to be orthodontic specialists, deliver orthodontic treatment to our patients. Please select which category that best represents your visit today.

We are currently recruiting a limited number of patients for treatment and / or research projects being conducted within the Orthodontics Graduate Program. To be accepted, you need to have good overall dental health, this means good oral hygiene and no dental cavities.

Are you a new patient?
  • Patients wanting to start orthodontic treatment need to have overall good dental health, which means clean teeth and no cavities.  

  • At the new patient exam appointment the Graduate student and Dental Assistant will take photos of your teeth, x-rays and a 3D digital scan of your teeth.

  • A Treatment Coordinator will review treatment options and fees with the patient and the responsible party at this appointment. 

  • When  payment is paid in full then we will move forward with appointments to start treatment.

Orthodontic Fees

Program Fees

  • Non refundable new patient exam fee is $100
  • Non refundable treatment plan $400
  • Approximate treatment costs, for early treatment (baby still teeth present) $1,500 to $3,500
  • For braces or clear aligners $5,000 to $6,500 based on customized treatment plan.

*Monthly payment options are available by credit card or pre-authorized withdrawal from your bank account, specific details will be reviewed at the consultation appointment. At this time, we do not offer direct billing.

Hours of Operation

  • Our hours (school hours): 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday to Friday. If missing school or work for appointments is not an option, a private practice might suit your needs better.

  • Your flexibility with appointments: When you are accepted to the program you will be assigned to a specific clinic which will only occur on a certain day of the week. For example, one clinic may only be offered on alternating Tuesdays, while another is limited to one Monday each month. Based on your clinic assignment, there will only be certain days we can schedule your appointments, with the exception of emergency appointments.
