As an educational partner of the University of Alberta, St. Stephen's College grants divinity degrees in spiritually-informed theology, psychotherapy, and art therapy. St. Stephen's offers graduate programs that educate the whole person (body, mind, and spirit) and equip ministry and caregiving professionals with the intellectual, applied, and spiritual capacity needed for service in the public sphere.
For more than a century, St. Stephen's College has been known for its creative and non-traditional style of learning that integrates spirituality, the arts, and theology. St. Stephen's is committed to learning that both informs and transforms students to go out into the public sphere and shape the society in which we live.
As a student at St. Stephen's you will be invited into a vibrant, caring, and spiritually diverse community. You will be encouraged to develop learning goals that fit your life experiences and faith commitments, whatever they may be. You will have access to faculty from a wide variety of backgrounds, each of which possesses their own experience and expertise that will enrich your own.
All St. Stephen's degree and certificate programs are openly accessible to people from any faith tradition.
Graduate studies at St. Stephen's is flexible and designed for the working professional. Most courses are offered as five-day intensives (rather than the traditional semester-long format), while others are offered online or through a mixed on-campus/online format. We are committed to offering courses and programing that is accessible and which cultivates a diverse learning community. Our success is demonstrated by students and faculty who come to us from across Canada and the US, and from overseas.
St. Stephen's College is an Associate Member of the Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada (ATS), and an Approved Training Program of the Canadian Art Therapy Association (CATA). As an independent, degree granting institution, degrees conferred by St. Stephen's College are not University of Alberta degrees. For more information, see our Institutional Charter page.
