Strategic Plans and Initiatives

University Services and Finance leads and determines strategy for a number of U of A initiatives, including:

Administrative Strategic Council (ASC)

ASC is the main vehicle for communication between university leadership and the senior administrators responsible for implementing university strategies and policies. It is meant to create a common understanding of institutional priorities for key administrators.

Awards and Recognition

University Services and Finance Awards recognizes and celebrates the faculty and staff who make an outstanding impact on the University of Alberta.

Investment and Treasury

Investments & Treasury provides the University of Alberta with strategic leadership and oversight of its cash flow, banking services and investment portfolio. Our responsibility is to ensure that the university's cash flow is managed effectively and that sufficient liquidity is maintained to meet the university's obligations. This responsibility extends to the design, implementation and delivery of a comprehensive investment program for the University's endowed and non-endowed funds.

IT Governance

In accordance with the Institutional Strategic Plan, IT Governance provides strategic leadership and establishes institution-wide IT priorities and policies.

Service Excellence Transformation

The administrative restructuring arm of the University of Alberta for Tomorrow initiative, Service Excellence Transformation (SET) is implementing a new operational model to serve and support the core teaching and research mission of the university more effectively and efficiently.

Technology With Purpose

With a vision of operating as One University and advancing our position of teaching and research excellence, Technology with Purpose aims to ensure that secure, sustainable and innovative technology is available to all. It outlines a clear vision for supporting the university community in all of it's technology needs in order to achieve a connected, accessible and supportive technology experience.

UniForum

The University of Alberta participates in UniForum a benchmarking initiative designed specifically for reviewing university support services and functions such as finance, purchasing, human resources, communications, and information technology.

University Budget

University Services and Finance is responsible for developing an annual consolidated budget for the University of Alberta. The budget is intended to provide a consolidated budget for the upcoming fiscal year as well as a projected budget for the two subsequent years.

Budget Model 2.0

Our budget model guides how we organize the university’s revenues and costs. The new model is currently in the design phase with a target launch of the Budget 2024-2025 cycle.
