Terry Knysh

Terry started life on a small family farm in northeast Alberta before graduating from the University of Alberta, faculty of Engineering in 1990. Terry advanced his education with a master’s in project management from the Pennsylvania State University in 2009. 

His career spanned 35 years and included roles as design engineer, department lead, project manager, and office/operations manager. Terry worked with large consulting firms such as AMEC (Wood) and Black & Veatch and in later years as an independent engineering consultant. Much of his career was dedicated to upgrading thermal power facilities to improve efficiency and reduce/eliminate emissions as well as work on new Co-generation power plants and renewable solar and wind projects.

Throughout his career Terry has volunteered in a variety of roles including:
• Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA), member of Continuing Professional Development committee.

• American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Engineers Inc. (ASHRAE), Northern Alberta Chapter, treasurer, and secretary.

• Rotary International (Stony Plain Chapter).

• Company (AMEC) summer student program.

• Company (AMEC) United Way fund raising champion.

Terry has a great appreciation for the University of Alberta having provided him with a challenging and rewarding career and looks forward to volunteering and serving the institution in the years to come. Terry recently retired (2024), lives in Edmonton and enjoys spending time on the family farm, various outdoor activities, restoring cars and in the pursuit of continuous learning.
