Humanities Centre closure

The Humanities Centre will remain closed for the Winter 2024 term.

31 January 2024

The Humanities Centre closed on Monday, December 18, 2023 due to a small isolated electrical fire. The building will remain closed through the Winter 2024 semester while air quality assessments, restoration and cleaning take place. To ensure the safety of all building occupants and our broader campus community, restricted access remains in effect and no-entry is permitted other than Facilities & Operations personnel and the restoration contractor.

Since the event, there have been several coordinated access opportunities into the building for students, staff and faculty to collect their personal belongings and items needed to work remotely. As well, all faculty, student and business units have been relocated to temporary spaces for the winter term.

All classes previously scheduled in the Humanities Centre have been rescheduled in other classrooms through north campus. If you have a winter term course scheduled for the Humanities Centre, please check Bear Tracks for updated classroom information.

Updates will be available on the Emergency Information and Procedures web page. The health and safety of our university community is our highest priority, and we appreciate your patience and understanding.
