The University of Alberta, Faculty of Law is accepting applications for the 2012-2013 academic year for a Clinical Director for our Legal Research and Writing Program. The Director will provide instruction in Legal Research and Writing to one section of first year students. In addition, as coordinator of the Legal Research & Writing Program, the Director will be responsible for supervising up to five sessional instructors who will be teaching the other sections of Legal Research & Writing and will be responsible for the moot court exercise for all sections. Under the Direction of the Vice Dean, he or she will be responsible for the coordination of the Faculty's competitive moot program consisting 14 regional and national moots. Depending on the skills and experience of the successful candidate, the Director will also be responsible for teaching one to two additional courses, preferably in areas with a practice or skills component. Examples of such courses might include, but are not limited to: Advocacy, Dispute Resolution, Interviewing and Counselling, Contract Drafting, Techniques in Negotiation, Mediation Advocacy, Arbitration and Professional Responsibility.

Applicants must have a Canadian LLB/JD. Preference will be given to applicants who have completed an LLM and/or PhD or are in the late stages of completion. The starting salary is at the level of an Assistant Professor and includes a comprehensive benefit plan. The appointment is a one year sessional contract effective July 1, 2012. Renewals for ensuing academic years will be considered.
