The Law Show marked its 20th year with a magical variety revue organized by the University of Alberta's law students. The purpose of the Law Show is to take a humorous look at the law school experience and the legal profession in general. It provides an opportunity for law students to showcase their considerable acting, dancing, musical and vocal talent.

Law Show is a tradition that sets the University of Alberta's Law School apart from others. Over 40% of the student body collaborate with faculty and staff in staging a musical production, with all net proceeds benefiting a charity.

This year, the show donated over $4000 to Youth Empowerment & Support Services. YESS is a relentlessly dedicated not-for-profit organization that shapes the future of Edmonton by supporting youth facing difficult realities. YESS offers distinct and invaluable services through a variety of channels that range from immediate emergency shelter to ongoing support programs and individual guidance. Since its inception in 1996, the Law Show has donated more than $250,000 to various charities.

In Law Show 2015 the audience followed young Harry Lawter as he developed his powers of reason. Harry is admitted to Lawgwarts where he studies… and studies… and studies. Along with pals Ron, Hermione, and Hagrid, Harry battled evil Lord Voldetort in three legal challenges to ensure justice prevailed.

In addition to the excitement in the theater, the law students hosted a silent auction during the intermission of the Saturday night performance, featuring items and services donated by many local businesses. This event is not only for law students, everyone is welcomed and encouraged to come out and support the law students, help raise funds for a local charity, and to be entertained by this fun-filled show. Mark Connolly of CBC fame was in the audience Saturday night. He enjoyed the show so much he played one of the music videos, Law School Funk, for his audience!

Each year Law Show relies on the help of law firms and businesses to cover the operating expenses of the show production. This sponsorship allows all of the Law Show's revenues to be directed to the selected charity. This year's show was sponsored by Brownlee LLP Barristers & Solicitors. In addition to a commitment to the community, Brownlee LLP has extensive and long-standing practices in almost all legal disciplines, Civil Litigation, Municipal and Administrative Law, and Corporate-Commercial Law remain the cornerstones and core strengths upon which the firm continues to build extensive specialized and unique practice areas.
