A Human Rights Based Approach to Ombudsman Work

On March 12, Professor Linda Reif made a presentation on how classic ombudsman institutions can use international human rights law in their work on a panel on "A Human Rights Based Approach to Ombudsman Work" held during the 28th session of the International Coordinating Committee of National Human Rights Institutions (ICC) at the United Nations, Palais des Nations, Geneva, Switzerland. The ICC sessions are held under the auspices of the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights. The panel event formally launched a project initiated by the Northern Ireland Human Rights Commission and Northern Ireland's Assembly Ombudsman/Complaints Commission.

Professor Reif is a Visiting Scholar at Sidney Sussex College, University of Cambridge, UK in March. During her stay, she is conducting research for the second edition of her book on The Ombudsman, Good Governance and the International Human Rights System and on international trade/business law projects.
