On Wednesday, June 3rd, 2015, Assistant Professor Gail Henderson and adjunct professor Anna Lund presented as part of a panel at the Canadian Law & Society Association annual conference, which took place this year in conjunction with the Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Ottawa. The title of the panel was "Banking on the Public Interest". Presenters on the panel explored the crucial public interests served by mainstream banks in Canadian society and the social issues that arise when they fail to fulfill their social responsibilities, in particular, providing affordable credit to low-income individuals and extending credit in a responsible manner. The panel also examined ways in which the law could encourage banks to fulfill these responsibilities. Read more about the panel here.
