Law Faculty Communications on June 22, 2015 - 23 June 2015

The Faculty of Law is pleased to announce that Professor Joanna Harrington has been selected by the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission to spend time in China as a "High-end Foreign Expert" as part of the Recruitment Program of High-end Foreign Experts run by the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs (SAFEA) to attract foreign academics and entrepreneurs to China on a short-term basis. The visiting fellowship will allow Professor Harrington to spend time in Shanghai as a visiting professor, where she will teach a course on international dispute settlement and build collaborative links with her host institution, the Shanghai University of Political Science and Law.

In a desire for foreign expertise, the Chinese government has established a number of programs to attract foreign academics and entrepreneurs to help improve research and innovation, since the adoption in 2008 of what is known as the "1000 Talent Plan".

The June visit will be Professor Harrington's second trip to China, having visited Beijing in November 2012 at the invitation of the Institute of International Law of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) to present at its annual International Law Forum.
