UAlberta Faculty of Law Welcomes Commissioner of Competition

Tuesday, June 23, 2015-The UAlberta Faculty of Law welcomed Mr. John Pecman, who was visiting Alberta meeting with various stakeholders in the competition law area.

During the afternoon lecture-faculty, staff and the general public gathered in CN Alumni Hall of the Law Centre to listen to Mr. Pecman discuss the latest initiatives by the Competition Bureau. He also discussed the Bureau's role in conducting interventions, and transparency that aims to promote the development of a more efficient, cost-effective and responsive agency.

Mr. John Pecman was appointed Commissioner of Competition in 2013 for a five-year-term. Mr. Pecman is an economist with an M.A. from McMaster University who has worked at the Competition Bureau as an investigator, manager and executive for more than 30 years. He is currently a member of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development Competition Committee and the Steering Group of International Competition Network.
