Cecilia Johnstone Outstanding Service Award 2015

7 July 2015

Patricia C. Lane, Managing Partner at Taylor McCaffrey LLP, is the 2015 recipient of the Canadian Bar Association Cecilia Johnstone Outstanding Service Award.

Ms. Lane was called to the Manitoba Bar in 1984 and the Ontario Bar in 1992. She is an alumna of University of Alberta (B.A., 1979; LL.B., 1982). Her work on employment benefits for same-sex couples and their ability to be married in Manitoba permanently changed that province's social landscape.

Her long time involvement in promoting women in the legal profession and her high level of excellence in leadership, commitment and service to other women, both inside and outside the legal profession, were a few of the many qualifications the Awards Committee considered to honour.

Patricia's commitment and passion for gender neutral language, leadership of the WLF and the first leadership conference in Toronto and her work as a member of the NCWBA board all contribute to her being a most worthy recipient of this national award.

The award will be presented at the WLF Leadership Conference luncheon on Friday, November 20th at the Fairmont Waterfront, Vancouver.

AWARD:
The Cecilia I. Johnstone Award was established in 2007 to recognize women who have achieved professional excellence in their field and influenced other women to pursue legal careers, supported other women in career advancement or opened doors for women lawyers in a variety of job settings that historically were closed to them. It is named to honour an outstanding lawyer, judge, CBA President, woman and friend who passed away April 15, 2006.
