Do you remember your first day at law school? Do you recall feeling the enthusiasm, eagerness, and excitement of what's yet to come? Such emotions and more were in the air at the University of Alberta Faculty of Law Orientation on Tuesday, September 1, 2015.

The incoming Class of 2018 were greeted in the lobby of the law school by upper-year law students and Faculty of Law Student Services, who welcomed the new students to a place that will soon feel like a second home and place of study for the next three years.

Students were then directed upstairs where they were greeted by friendly faces from Alumni and Friends, who provided information and answered questions.

Once inside McLennan Ross Hall, the first year law students were warmly welcomed to the University of Alberta Faculty of Law by Vice Dean, Moin Yahya; Dean Paul D. Paton; Dharam Dhillon, President of the Law Students' Association (LSA); and Eric Daniels, Elder, who gave a ceremonial blessing.

Distinguished guests from the legal community addressed the new students, including The Right Honourable Kim Campbell, PC,CC, OBC, QC; The Honourable Madam Justice Myra B. Bielby, Courts of Appeal of Alberta, James Eamon, QC, President, Law Society of Alberta; Steve Mandziuk, QC, Canadian Bar Association Alberta, and Cmr. Robert Philp, QC, Alberta Lawyers' Assistance Society.

Following the Orientation activities, students, faculty and staff attended the Dean's BBQ outside in the main entrance. Simon Elzen-Hoskyn (Class of 2014) delighted those in attendance with a musical performance and even Guba, the University of Alberta mascot, made an appearance!
