The Role of National Human Rights Institutions in Providing Access to Justice

Professor Linda C. Reif participates in meeting of experts to advise on the interconnections between NHRIs and human rights ombudsman institutions, and their work in the domestic implementation of international human rights.

Professor Linda C Reif was a participant in the experts meeting on "The Role of National Human Rights Institutions in Providing Access to Justice" held at Wivenhoe House, University of Essex, United Kingdom on September 21. The meeting was held to enable participants to provide advice to the research project investigators Professors Lorna McGregor (University of Essex Human Rights Centre), Shirley Shipman (Oxford Brookes University Faculty of Law) and Rachel Murray (University of Bristol Human Rights Implementation Centre). The meeting brought together NHRI and ombudsman officials, representatives from the Council of Europe, UNDP and the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, and academic experts on NHRIs, ombuds institutions, administrative justice and ADR. Professor Reif's work addresses the interconnections between NHRIs and human rights ombudsman institutions, and their work in the domestic implementation of international human rights.
