The Winspear Room at the University of Alberta Faculty Club was home to a lot of smiling faces on November 29 for UAlberta Law's annual Prizes & Awards ceremony to recognize our award-winning students and thank our generous donors.

Each year UAlberta Law provides more than $1.1 million in bursaries, scholarships, awards, and prizes to undergraduate and graduate students. More than 160 people were in attendance at the annual ceremony, including 29 donors - both individuals and representatives of law firms. Dean Paul Paton acted as emcee for the evening, and three UAlberta Law students - Allison Numerow, James Konopka, and Brandyn Rodgerson - spoke on behalf of the prizes and awards recipients.

"In times of challenge and change, it is through the continued support of our alumni, friends, and generous donors who encourage and invest in our students' success that the University of Alberta Faculty of Law is able to continue our work as we assist and encourage students through their law school journey," said Dean Paton.

"Events like this evening serve to remind us of the strong sense of community we have here at the Faculty and in the legal profession as a whole. It is also an opportunity for donors to meet with the students for whom their financial support makes a meaningful difference, and for our students in turn to give thanks."

"I'm proud to attend a law school with awards and bursaries for many different students," said Ms. Numerow.

"Receiving an award or a bursary serves to make law school more attainable for students, allowing us to focus on our studies and other interests."

UAlberta Law would like to thank Ms. Gloria Strathern, Prizes & Awards Coordinator, and all of the Faculty staff responsible for organizing such a successful evening.
