Law Communications - 18 March 2016

The University of Alberta Faculty of Law hosted the 2016 Alberta Court of Appeal Moot on March 11-12 at the Law Centre, welcoming our friends from the University of Calgary for the annual Alberta Challenge Cup. With a "two moots to one" victory, the home team won the moot and the Alberta Challenge Cup is now back at the Law Centre for the first time since 2012.

Congratulations to the U of A team:

Constitutional Moot: John Minkley and Joey Redman; Coach Phil Lister

Civil Moot: Grayson Bateyko and Mark Keohane; Coaches Jeremiah Kowalchuk and Leah McDaniel (Field LLP)

The University of Alberta Faculty of Law would like to thank our wonderful panels for their efforts at the competition: Justice Slatter and Justice Schutz of the Court of Appeal; Justice Belzil, Justice Clackson, Justice Ross, and Justice Graesser of the Court of Queen's Bench; and Judge Creagh, Judge Stevens, and Judge Zalmanowitz of the Provincial Court of Alberta. Thank you also to Pavin Takhar and Ali Matour (1L) who served as Court Clerks for each round and to the faculty members and external advisors who judged practice rounds to help our students prepare.
