On March 17, Law Students for Access Together (LSAT), the club advocating for the interests of law students with disabilities at the University of Alberta, hosted its second annual Accessibility Award Ceremony in CN Alumni Hall.

The Accessibility Award was created in 2014 and recognizes the contributions of an individual toward increasing accessibility for people with disabilities at the University of Alberta Faculty of Law or in the legal profession. Dean Paton was the first recipient of the award because of his work implementing policy changes on awards and scholarships to benefit students with disabilities.

This year's recipient is Lane Mandlis, Ph.D., a Student-at-Law and 2015 University of Alberta Faculty of Law graduate. Dean Paton attended the award ceremony and spoke about the importance of initiatives for equity and diversity in the law school.

"Lane was an active member of the Faculty's Equality and Respect Committee, and contributed significantly to the inclusion of information on disability accommodation and supports on the Faculty's Career Services page, as well as advocating for greater physical accessibility in the Law Centre," said LSAT president David Foster. "We look forward to Lane continuing to advocate for accessibility issues throughout his legal career."

Congratulations Lane!
