Law Communications - 27 May 2016

On Thursday, May 26, 2016, the Alumni & Friends of the Faculty of Law Association held their annual Spring Reception and Silent Auction at the Fairmont Hotel MacDonald. The annual event is an important opportunity for alumni and friends of the University of Alberta Faculty of Law to come together and visit with former classmates and current colleagues and friends, and to celebrate the outstanding work that continues to be done by our professors and students. During the event, welcoming remarks were made by Christine Pratt, President of Alumni & Friends, and Dean Paul Paton provided an overview on the 2015-2016 academic year at the Faculty.

"The Faculty of Law is grateful for Alumni & Friends' continuing support," said Dean Paul Paton. "The group's financial support in the form of bursaries for students, the result of the annual spring reception and silent auction, provides tangible and important access for future generations of law students. Alumni & Friends' information sessions on careers, transition to practice, and job search strategies support and supplement what we have been endeavoring to entrench as regular student service, and bring current students into direct contact with the broader alumni community."

Thank you to the Alumni & Friends Spring Reception committee for their hard work organizing the festivities: Nazrina Umarji [Chair], Shermie Au, Randal Carlson, Celina Chan, Soheel Hussein, Allyson Jeffs, Catherine Miller, and Deborah Szatylo.
