The University of Alberta Faculty of Law would like to thank Mr. Jim Odishaw (BA '66, LLB '71) for his legacy gift of $100,000 in honour of Mrs. Esther Odishaw. The gift establishes three Odishaw Family Prizes for students in the areas of dispute resolution, mediation advocacy, and techniques in negotiation. On Monday, June 6, 2016, Dean Paul Paton held a small recognition dinner on campus for Mr. Odishaw and members of his family to thank them for the gift.

"Jim Odishaw's generous contribution of $100,000 to the University of Alberta Faculty of Law to establish three Odishaw Family Prizes in honour of Esther Odishaw is not only a tremendous gift for our students, but also a symbol of the importance the Odishaw family places on education, both in its own right, and as a provider of opportunity," said Dean Paul Paton. "The Odishaw Family Prizes not only provide financial support for our students, but also encourage them to excel in dispute resolution, mediation advocacy, and negotiation, three areas of the law that will better equip them to serve their clients' needs. We are grateful for Mr. Odishaw's generosity and for his commitment to the next generation of lawyers graduating from the University of Alberta."

"The education acquired through the University of Alberta Faculty of Law has afforded my family opportunities that will continue to benefit us for generations to come," said Jim Odishaw. "I was pleased to be able to give back to the law school and support students."
