On June 11-12, 2016, University of Alberta Faculty of Law employee Tim Young participated in the annual Johnson MS Bike Tour from Leduc to Camrose. This year, a record 2,036 riders participated in the race and Tim came in first - with a 75-minute lead - for the fifth year in a row, despite weather that could best be described as inclement.

"The first leg of the race was truly hellish," said Tim. "I was literally screaming wildly to fight through the pain and agony of the cold, and I'm used to extreme weather from skiing, biking, and running in the winter. The wind was bad, but the freakishly cold rain made it even worse."

This year's tour raised more than $1.79 million for MS research and treatment, with Tim raising $1,755. Since he began riding in the tour in 2012, Tim has raised close to $10,000.

"The riders fought tooth and nail for your fundraising dollars this year," said Tim, "and earned every penny with blood. I saw so many people out there in shorts and even without gloves in the first leg. The dedication and endurance I saw was deeply moving."

The Faculty of Law congratulates Tim on his most recent physical feat. Stay tuned for further adventures!
