Professor Tamara Buckwold and Professor Rod Wood Participate in the Canadian Conference on Personal Property Security Law

Professors belong to a working group preparing papers and draft statutory provisions for Canadian provinces and territories that wish to revise their personal property security statutes.

From June 14-17, 2016, Professors Tamara Buckwold and Rod Wood attended the Canadian Conference on Personal Property Security Law (CCPPSL) in Charlottetown, PEI. Professors Buckwold and Wood are members of a legislative working group of the CCPPSL that is preparing explanatory papers and draft statutory provisions for Canadian provinces and territories that wish to revise their personal property security statutes. Professor Wood also gave a presentation that reviewed important PPSA decisions that were decided over the past year including the decision of the Alberta Court of Appeal in York Realty Inc v Alignvest Private Debt Ltd respecting security deposits and the decision of the Alberta Court of Queen's Bench in Maximum Financial Services Inc v 1144517 Alberta Ltd respecting security interests in patient records and prescriptions.
