Professor Linda C. Reif has published a book chapter on "Conceptions of Justice in Ombudsman Dispute Settlement: From the Classic Ombudsman to the Human Rights Ombudsman Model" in Peter Collin, ed, Justice without the State within the State: Judicial Self-Regulation in the Past and Present published by Vittorio Klostermann in Frankfurt, Germany.

Professor Reif's chapter addresses use of legality, including administrative law, and extra-legal justice standards by ombudsman institutions, the role of ombudsman institutions in providing access to justice and the ombudsman and restorative justice.

With contributions in English and German, the book's theme spans the worlds of labor and the economy, non-state actors within state structures, justice in areas of limited statehood and challenges in the modern world: pre-modern forms and innovations.
