Professor Linda Reif Presents at International Human Rights Research Conference

Prof. Reif presented a paper at the 2016 Association of Human Rights Institutes (AHRI) Annual Human Rights Research Conference in Utrecht, the Netherlands.

University of Alberta Faculty of Law CN Professor of International Trade Linda C. Reif presented a paper on "The UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and Networked Governance: Improving the Role of National Human Rights Ombudsman Institutions as NHRI Remedies" in a panel session on Rethinking Global Human Rights Governance Beyond the State during the 2016 Association of Human Rights Institutes (AHRI) Annual Human Rights Research Conference held on September 1 to 3 in Utrecht, the Netherlands. The AHRI conference was hosted by the Netherlands Institute of Human Rights (SIM) at Utrecht University's Academy Building and School of Law.

Participants at the conference came from throughout Europe and North America. The conference started with a celebration of the 35th anniversary of SIM and concluded with the 2016 SIM Peter Baehr Lecture delivered by Prince Zeid Ra'ad al Hussein, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights.

The University of Alberta and Utrecht University have an inter-university student exchange agreement pursuant to which some of our JD students have been spending exchange semesters at the Utrecht School of Law.
