Professor Peter Sankoff and UAlberta Law Blog Recognized at Clawbie Awards

The annual awards highlight leading Canadian legal blogs.

Priscilla Popp - 5 January 2017

Congratulations are in order for Professor Peter Sankoff and the contributors to the University of Alberta Faculty of Law blog, who received recognition when the 11th annual Clawbie Awards were announced December 31.

The Clawbies - also known as the Canadian Law Blog Awards - called for nominations from December 1-22. Nominators could either write blog posts explaining why they thought certain blogs deserved an award, or tweet nominations on Twitter.

Sankoff, whose work focuses on the criminal trial process and the relationship between animals and the law, received a Best Podcast / Vlog Award - a new category this year. Sankoff's blog examines court rulings and pressing legal issues. His most recent win comes one year after he received a runner up prize for the Best Law School / Law Professor Blog Award, the same award the University of Alberta Faculty of Law blog received a runner up spot in this year.

From 2007-2010, the Faculty blog - part of the Law and Social Media course - was a winner or runner up, making 2016's win especially exciting.
