1960s

Chief Justice Neil Wittmann ('67 LLB)

Chief Justice Neil Wittmann retired after nearly a half century in the legal profession and eight years as Chief Justice of the Court of Queen's Bench of Alberta.

Glenn Irving (LLB '60)

Glen Irving has been retired for 20 years and continues to reside in Vancouver's North Shore region. Irving has been fortunate to enjoy reasonably good health that enables him to spend considerable time aboard his 43' sailing vessel "Adventure" during the summer cruising season.

David McLean (LLB '62)

David McLean was elected to the BC Business Laureates Hall of Fame and was inducted at a black tie dinner in Vancouver in May 2017.

John R. Singleton, QC (LLB '69)

John R. Singleton, QC, continues to serve as managing partner at Singleton Urquhart LLP in Vancouver, a firm of 55 lawyers he founded 35 years ago. Singleton has been teaching a construction law course at the University of British Columbia for the past 22 years, and has also presented the course at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California.

1970s

Bill Gray, QC (LLB '77)

After working (and becoming Managing Partner) at the small firm Fleming LLP for the entirety of Bill Gray's legal career, the firm was absorbed by Miles Davison LLP in 2014, where he is now a senior partner practicing in the corporate commercial area. Gray has been a volunteer with the Calgary Stampede for over 30 years and was fortunate to spend the last two years as the President and Chairman of the Board of that organization.

Deb Zutter (LLB '78)

Deb Zutter retired from law at the end of December 2012 and was appointed to the British Columbia Health Professions Review Board in November 2014.

1980s

Charalee Graydon (LLB '82)

Charalee Graydon lives in France and Spain and is a faculty member at Euclid University.

Gerry Deacon (LLB '84)

After practicing for 18 years in Edmonton, mostly at Weir Bowen, Gerry Deacon immigrated to New Zealand in 2003 and spent two years as a stay at home dad to his youngest daughter, then three years old. In 2006, Deacon was admitted to the New Zealand High Court as a solicitor and has been practicing since at a small suburban firm in Christchurch. His primary areas of work are relationship property law (family law in New Zealand legal parlance) and estates. His family and he survived the 2011 Christchurch earthquakes.

1990s

Julie Lloyd, QC (LLB '91)

Julie Lloyd, QC was appointed to the Provincial Court (Edmonton Family and Youth Division) in December of 2016.

Darren L. Richards (LLB '92)

Darren Richards' firm Richards & Company has relocated to a new office space in Summerside Business Park in Edmonton's southeast. More details on the firm's new location can be found on its website at <a href=http://www.richardslaw.ca target=_blank>www.richardslaw.ca</a>.

Gillian Clarke (LLB '92)

Gillian Clarke celebrated her 25th year with the firm of Witten LLP, where she works mainly in the areas of personal injury disability insurance and professional regulatory and disciplinary matters. Clarke is also excited to have been elected as Chair of the Board of Directors for the Alberta Diabetes Foundation for a two year term starting in 2017. Supporting diabetes research in Alberta is near and dear to her heart as her sister, son and husband all suffer from Type 1 diabetes.

David J. Corrigan, QC (LLB '93)

David J. Corrigan, QC, continues to work for Bryan & Company in Calgary, practising in civil litigation. His wife Regina (LLB '93) and Corrigan have two boys, both of whom are in university.

Jason T. Marino (LLB '97)

Since April 17, 2013, Jason T. Marino has been Associate General Counsel, Liquids Pipelines Operations Law with Enbridge, located in Edmonton. Prior to that, Marino was a partner with Bennett Jones LLP in Edmonton for several years.

David L. Sharko (LLB '97)

Since 1999, David L. Sharko has practiced predominantly in the area of Aboriginal law. Sharko joined the Edmonton office of Parlee McLaws LLP as an associate in 1999, was admitted into the partnership in 2008, and continued to practice at the firm until 2014. He then joined the Aboriginal Law Team of Alberta Justice and Solicitor General in Edmonton, where he currently provides legal and strategic services on a wide range of matters involving Aboriginal and Treaty rights. He is actively involved in the community as President and Legal Director of The Rainbow Society of Alberta, a charity whose mandate is to grant wishes of Alberta children diagnosed with a chronic or life-threatening illness.

Adam Pekarsky (LLB '97)

In the 20 years since Adam Pekarsky's graduation, he practiced law for three years and spent the other 17 in the executive search business. In 2009, he opened Pekarsky & Co., an executive search firm with deep expertise in the legal sector. In the eight years since they opened their doors, they have led hundreds of high profile searches, including numerous high profile General Counsel, in-house and law firm searches across the country.

Greg Preston, MOM (LLB '98)

Greg Preston, MOM joined the Edmonton Police Service (EPS) in 1995, and in September 2016 was appointed Deputy Chief overseeing the development of a new Intelligence and Investigations Bureau for the EPS. Preston has also represented the larger police community by acting as legal counsel representing the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police (CACP) before the Supreme Court of Canada on six separate occasions. He is co-chair of the CACP's Law Amendments Committee and past chair of the Alberta Association of Chiefs of Police's Law Amendments Committee. In 2014, Preston was appointed a Member of the Order of Merit of the Police Services.

2000s

Kevin Brosseau (LLB '01)

Kevin Brosseau joined the RCMP in 1988 and served in Williams Lake and Burnaby, BC from 1989 to 1998, as well as a number of locations in Yukon. After practicing law in New York, Brosseau returned to the RCMP as Assistant Commissioner of Contract and Aboriginal Policing, and in March 2016 was promoted to the rank of Deputy Commissioner, Contract and Aboriginal Policing. In 2014, he was invested as an Officer into the Order of Merit of the Police Forces (OOM) and recently graduated from the FBI's National Executive Institute. Brosseau is an active member of the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police and the International Association of Chiefs of Police.

Ingrid M. Tsui (JD '04)

Ingrid M. Tsui became a partner at Alexander Holburn in January 2016. This year, she obtained her TEP designation, granted by the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners for experienced practitioners in this field.

Jacob Shelley (LLB '07, LLM '09)

Since graduating from UAlberta Law, Jacob Shelley has been working on a SJD at University of Toronto and is currently a law professor with the Faculty of Law at Western University.

D.J. Lynde (JD '10)

D.J. Lynde and his wife became parents in October 2016, with the birth of their first child, John "Jack" Mackenzie Lynde. He continues to practise financial services law at the Toronto office of McCarthy Tétrault LLP.

Aminollah Sabzevari (JD '14)

Aminollah Sabzevari was nominated - and now is a finalist for - the RBC Top Immigrant Awards, one of the 75 finalists for the Royal Bank of Canada's Top 25 Canadian Immigrant Awards 2017, based on contributions to community. Sabzevari currently works as a Counsel for Justice Canada in Edmonton.
