Dr Carole EstabrooksDr. Carole A. Estabrooks is Professor, Faculty of Nursing, at the University of Alberta, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, and holds a Tier I Canada Research Chair (CRC) in Knowledge Translation. She is principal investigator of the Knowledge Utilization Studies Program (KUSP). She is cross appointed in the School of Public Health, University of Alberta. Dr. Estabrooks' program of research focuses on knowledge translation in the health sciences; she studies the influence of organizations on the research implementation behavior of health care providers and the effect of knowledge translation on patient/resident, provider and system outcomes. Her research focuses on basic and applied aspects of inquiry in the knowledge translation and knowledge utilization fields.

Her program of research, Translating Research in Elder Care (TREC) has been active since 2007. TREC aims develop sustainable practical solutions and tools that improve the quality of care provided to older adults, enrich the work life of their caregivers, and enhance effectiveness in residential long-term care./p>

Dr Estabrooks supervises undergraduate and graduate students and postdoctoral fellows and teaches in the areas of knowledge translation and research design./p>

She has been the recipient of several awards and achievements among them, the J. Gordin Kaplan Award for Excellence in Research, University of Alberta, (2018), the International Nurse Researcher Hall of Fame (2018), the Order of Canada (2016), the Betty Havens Prize for Knowledge Translation in Aging (2014), the CAFA Distinguished Academic Award (2010), the Alumni Award of Distinction, University of New Brunswick (2007), the Alumni Horizon Award (2002), and career scientist awards from CIHR/MRC (Health Scholar, 2000-2005) and AHFMR (Population Health Investigator, 2000-2003). In 2007 Dr Estabrooks was elected to Fellowship in the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences (FCAHS). In 2011 she was inducted as a Fellow into the American Academy of Nurses (FAAN). She is a past member and Vice-Chair of the CIHR Institute of Aging./p>
