Student Success

A number of students from the Department of Renewable Resources were represented at the Canadian Institute of Forestry’s annual general meeting and conference:

  • Team U of A Forest Society Alpha won the Student Quiz Bowl (with their Team Beta coming in second place).
  • Graduate student Surabhi Lukose was awarded first place at the poster symposium.

Michael Huang, a graduate student in the Department of Resource Economics and Environmental Sociology, received the Canadian Agricultural Economics Society Outstanding Master's Thesis Award.

Laura Woodman, a graduate student in the Department of Human Ecology, received one of three BMO Financial Group Graduate Scholarships available at the U of A.

Belated congratulations to the participants in the Marvin Tung Student Case Competition hosted by the Canadian Institute of Food Science and Technology:

Congratulations to professor Scott Chang in the Department of Renewable Resources who was awarded the 2023 Soil Science Applied Research Award from the Soil Science Society of America.

We celebrate the recent accomplishments of two professors in the Department of Agricultural, Food & Nutritional Science:

  • Carla Prado was elected as a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences
  • Michael Gänzle was inducted as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada
