Star football players Trevor Harris and Greg Ellingson share stories of failure and overcoming adversity.

On March 16, 2021, the Alberta School of Business welcomed players from the EE Football Team to discuss how they handle personal and professional failure, both on and off the field.

Through a virtual moderated conversation, special guests Trevor Harris and Greg Ellingson shared some personal experiences, insights and tips on how they go about increasing their resilience after experiencing setbacks and failures.

The lunchtime discussion put on in partnership with Syncrude, who has been a supporter of the University of Alberta since 1980, and who continues to support both undergraduate and graduate students in the School of Business, welcomed attendees from across Canada.

Guests were treated to a behind-the-scenes look at the players’ lives, and how they’ve dealt with setbacks, personal failures, and negative criticism from being in the public eye.

Some key takeaways from the talk were captured by sketch note artist Meredith Bratland, and touches on the pillars of self-mastery, on setting goals, handling criticism, rebounding from failure, and caring for your mental health.
