On February 17th 2024, the UABSA will be hosting a Black History Month (BHM) Gala dedicated to celebrating BHM. We welcome Black students, allies, and esteemed members of the Edmonton community to share in this celebration.

Under the theme "Journey Through Time: Celebrating 5 Years of Excellence in UABSA," this gala aims to pay homage to the visionary creators who founded UABSA. Moreover, it spotlights the ongoing contributions of today's Black students, who, through their endeavors, continue to shape and define the history of the Black community at the University of Alberta.

The goal of the 2024 UABSA Gala is to provide a safe space for the African, Caribbean, Black (ACB) community to express their rich culture and heritage. Immerse yourself in a fusion of culturally inspired artworks, mesmerizing dance performances, captivating music, and stunning fashion displays. This gala serves as a vibrant tapestry, weaving together the diverse artistic expressions from Edmonton's various ACB communities. The gala will highlight these diverse artistic cultures while providing attendees with the opportunity to learn about the profound histories, meanings, and narratives that underpin these invaluable cultural arts.

Join us in commemorating Black History Month through a Gala that showcases our continuous journey in shaping and creating Black history!
