Use of Copyright Materials Procedure (UAPPOL)

While the Copyright Office has had practices in place for many years to provide guidance around the use of copyright materials for instructional, research and administrative purposes, until now there has been no formal procedure. Effectively, this new procedure is recent practice being formalized.

The Use of Copyright Materials Procedure (UAPPOL) was recently approved. This procedure relates to the Use of Copyright Materials Policy, which has been in place since 2011.

While the Copyright Office has had practices in place for many years to provide guidance around the use of copyright materials for instructional, research and administrative purposes, until now there has been no formal procedure. Effectively, this new procedure is recent practice being formalized.

Accompanying this Procedure are three information documents: The University of Alberta Fair Dealing Guidelines, the Course Materials Copyright Information Document, and the Library Document Delivery Copyright Information Document.
