Report on University's Sexual Violence Prevention Policies

26 August 2022

Graduate students are invited to read the internal audit of the University's policies relating to sexual violence management.

Over the past several months Deb Eerkes, Sexual Violence Response Coordinator, has been working to revise the University of Alberta’s policies with respect to sexual violence prevention. Part of this work involved the above linked internal audit, which the University conducted over the course of Winter 2022. The results of that audit are now available and, as the Interim Provost and Vice-President Academic has noted, “whereas the audit report is a necessary capture of where we’ve been and where we can grow, the proposed policy updates reflect the important cultural shift forward that we need to make as a community. This shift will create the foundation we need to support equitable access to our learning environments, free from harassment and sexual violence.”

Questions or thoughts about the University’s management and efforts on sexual violence prevention and response should be communicated to the Office of the Interim Provost and Vice-President (Academic).

Additionally, to track progress on this topic at the University, you can find regular community updates on the Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Prevention and Response webpage.
