Postgraduate Medical Education

Medical schools commit to the development of Postgraduate Medical Education curriculum and associated tools in Indigenous health with a core focus on cultural safety and anti-racism. This builds on the undergraduate curriculum in Indigenous health and prepares physicians for anti-racist, culturally safe independent practice.

  1. IHIP met with the associate dean of postgraduate medical education (PGME) to identify priorities and next steps.A working group is underway with the mission to develop Indigenous health education for PGME and will commence in the fall of 2019.

Our future

In 2020, we will be launching a course on anti-racism and cultural safety for trainees and medical residents, as part of the ongoing work to build capacity within the faculty to work safely and respectfully with Indigenous peoples.
