Roles and responsibilities of a student participating in a CSL placement:

  • To participate in the selection of your placement based on your skills, interests and availability.
  • To read through placement opportunities to better understand the goal and expectations of a placement before selecting it.
  • To complete any paperwork requirements (police checks, etc) as listed in the placement description.
  • To contact your community supervisor as soon as possible in the term to set up your orientation and first meeting.
  • To be professional when engaging with your community supervisor / placement.
  • To research your community organization prior to your first meeting to better understand the mission, vision and values of the organization.
  • To be an ambassador of Augustana while in the community.
  • To respect your CSL placement like you would a job: be on time, let your supervisor know when and how you will be completing your hours and dress in an appropriate manner.
  • To communicate regularly with your community supervisor.
  • To be open to change throughout your placement and know that placements may deviate from the original description.
  • To complete your placement before the end of the term.
  • To complete all deliverables as agreed upon with your supervisor and instructor.
  • To ensure your CSL Completion Form is signed by your supervisor and returned to your professor before the end of the term.
  • To ask questions you may have to your Community supervisor, Instructor or Student Academic Services staff.
