Climbing Wall

List of ongoing climbing wall activities
Date Description Registration
TBD Prepare to challenge the Augustana Climbing Wall top-rope belay test, Includes instruction on harness set-up, knot tying, safety checks, partner communication, top rope belay technique and catching/taking falls (while on top rope). No experience required! TBD
Wall Brawls
TBD Comprised of 10+ boulder problems, wall brawls are a unique opportunity to try out brand new routes in a "scramble" format. Wall brawls embody a recreational climbing competition, whereby points are awarded based on the number of attempts required to complete a boulder problem. Points are patron-awarded and self-monitored, and there are no judges, no eliminations and no pressure to climb difficult routes. YOU get to determine the routes you want to attempt, and everyone involved is encouraged to exchange "beta" (e.g. information about how to ascend the route) with one another. Enjoy fresh problems, clean holds and good company in a laid-back, encouraging environment! TBD

Climbing Wall

Open to the public, the Augustana Climbing Wall is a great place for leisurely recreation, strength and endurance training, birthday parties, team building activities or team windups, community groups and more! Drop by and visit our vibrant, active community! All you need is some gym clothes and a clean pair of runners. We're always happy to see new faces!

The Augustana climbing wall consists of eight high wall routes and 20 boulder problems. The climbing wall is free for students to use (equipment included) and has a small charge for public use (see pricing below).

Climbers are secured in harnesses and by a rope from above.

Climbers are unsecured and can climb freely to a maximum height of seven feet. Crash mats protect a climber's fall.

Harnesses are available and are included in climbing wall admission. Ropes, gri-gri's and other hardware are maintained and provided by climbing wall staff. A limited assortment of climbing shoes and chalk bags are also available for use and is included in climbing wall admission. Clean, non-marking running shoes may be used for climbing.

Our staff are happy to give you climbing tips while ensuring your safety at the wall. Each of our staff has received the following training: CPR and First-Aid Climbing wall safety Climbing instruction.
