We decided to make a financial contribution to support having Motus stations installed on properties owned and managed by Augustana to track bird migration patterns. We understand that data collected from those stations will become a part of the broader national/international Motus program. My wife, Joyce, and I recognize the importance of such research. As a conservation biologist working within the Alberta government, I and others used natural history data and other related information in making various land use and resource management decisions. Such data was also valuable in planning initiatives related to protected areas. We believe that data and information obtained from good biological research can function as a firm foundation for developing various actions, policies and initiatives that will lead to a better world, not only for species and ecosystems, but for humanity as a whole.”
