ENGL 103 B29: Case Studies in Research:

D. Woodman

Kendrick Lamar won the Pulitzer for music; some argue he should have received the prize for literature. From graphic novels and memoirs to comics, spoken word to rap -- literature isn't always confined to the silence of the printed word. In this course we'll survey contemporary works that engage the senses. Our exploration will consider the effects of complex relationships between texts, images, and sounds. In individual projects, we'll examine how these immersive experiences develop new insights, enable innovative critical insights, and engage with contemporary life. Students will research a topic, theme and approach of their choosing.
