ENGL 391 A1: Womens Writing: Writing by Women post-1900

C. Wiesenthal

This course will focus on experimental forms of auto-biography and self-representational practices in writing by contemporary women, including non-binary/trans voices. Students can expect to encounter a diverse range of authors writing across multiple (and often hybrid) genres, including poetry, memoir, multimodal, and/or experimental digital texts. As most of the texts we will consider are challenging in their innovative form as well as content, students should expect a significant time commitment for the assigned readings.

Course work will include an in-class mid-term essay, at least one library research assignment, informal in-class exercises, and a major research paper. Consult bookstore for required texts.
