2023 Distinguished Visiting Speakers announced

New Red Order will be joining us from March 20-24 as part of our Distinguished Visiting Speakers series.

27 January 2023

The New Red Order (NRO) will be joining us for our Distinguished Visiting Speaker series from March 20 - March 24, 2023. The NRO is a public secret society with a rotating and expanding cast, informed by core contributors Jackson Polys, who is Tlingit and lives and works between what are currently called Alaska and New York, and Zack Khalil and Adam Khalil, Ojibway filmmakers and artists from Sault Ste. Michigan who work in Brooklyn.

The NRO amplify and invert their current position as Informants, in the currently called United States, employing video, performance, and multimedia installation to create sites of acknowledgement, savage pronouncement, recruitment, and cumulative interrogation to shift obstructions to Indigenous growth, enjoining potential non-Indigenous accomplices to participate in the co-examination and expansion of Indigenous agency.

Since 2018, the work of the NRO has been selected for the Whitney Biennial and the Toronto Biennial, and has been exhibited at the Walker Art Centre in Minneapolis, the HKW in Berlin, Artist's Space in New York, the MOCA in Detroit, the Wexner Center for the Arts at Ohio State University, the Audain Gallery at SFU, the Art Gallery of York University, the Kunsthal Charlottenborg in Copenhagen, and the Sundance Film Festival.

During their week-long visit, the NRO will screen films, stage performances, and hold workshops for aspiring artists and filmmakers. Venue and Registration information will be announced in February, 2023.
