The Biological Sciences Building has been an anchor on North Campus and the home to teaching and research for the Faculty of Science since 1969. The upcoming, thoughtful building renewal enables the entire complex to remain an essential component of delivering the university’s mission. Renewal will be delivered systematically and progressively in phases to ensure that teaching and research objectives can remain vibrant and effective for the next 50 years.

Renovations on Level 4, Level 5, Level 10 (including mezzanine) and Level 11 (including mezzanine) within Zoology (Z) Wing will transform the space into high service wet laboratory space. The occupancy priorities will be assigned by College and Faculty representation.

The Z Wing space and other parts of the Biological Sciences Building will remain occupied and operational during the project. The project team will continue to reach out to adjacent building occupants to mitigate any disruptions, as they have done throughout 2023.

The project will occur in phases to manage overall requirements, scope, schedule and budget.
