A number of different projects are currently planned or underway within the Henry Marshall Tory Building:
Classroom renovations
Estimated project completion: Summer 2024
Through funding through the Student Experience Action Plan, three classrooms are being renovated to provide more accessible learning environments on campus. Work will include leveling the tiers to improve accessibility, installing new lighting, and updating furniture. Approximately 20 additional seats will also be added across the three classrooms to increase capacity.
Renovating these classrooms helps the university to maximize the usage, efficiency, quality and utility of its current spaces, ensuring they are functioning at full capacity and meeting today’s standards of technology, interdisciplinary learning and leading-edge education.
Atrium modernization impacting access and wayfinding into Tory and Business buildings
Estimated project completion: Fall 2024
Access into and through the Business / Tory Atrium will be impacted until Fall 2024 due to renovation work occurring in the Atrium, including replacement of skylight windows. The Atrium will also undergo upgrades to the interior finishes, providing students a fresh and modern study space within the building.
Unexpected emergency repairs resulting from extreme temperatures in mid-January

Unscheduled maintenance work is underway. The extreme cold snap in mid-January froze hot water heating lines within the building’s infrastructure causing pipe bursts, flooding and water breaches.
Atrium: Necessary maintenance work has affected pedestrian traffic by shifting the access points into Tory from the Atrium. Also, scaffolding walkways, including walkways into the Tory Breezeway and the stairway connection to HUB Mall, have been implemented for the safety and wayfinding of our community.
Tory Breezeway: Much of the Breezeway (main floor and basement) is under restoration from water damage. With the exception of a few classes being held in TBW-1, which was minimally affected, the majority of classes have been rescheduled in other locations. These changes will be reflected in Bear Tracks. On an interim basis, programming in the impacted lab spaces in the basement have been adjusted to the specific needs of the given department/unit in that space.
Tory - building mechanical upgrades continue
Estimated project completion: December 2024
Further upgrades to the Tory building's mechanical infrastructure will also be taking place over the course of 2024.
