  • Iman Mersal Wins 2021 Sheikh Zayed Book Award

    Congratulations to faculty member Iman Mersal (Modern Languages & Cultural Studies) for winning the 2021 Sheikh Zayed Book Award in the "literature" category! Her 2019 work of creative nonfiction, Fee Athar Enayat Al Zayyat (In the Footsteps of Enayat Al-Zayyat), explores the life of Egyptian writer Enayat al-Zayyat. The piece illuminates the challenges of writing while female, of attitudes toward mental health, and life in mid-20th-century Egypt.

    Claudia Kost, Associate Professor, and Crystal Sawatzky, German Instructor, submitted their academic poster "A Task-Based First-Year Blended Learning German Language OER at the University of Alberta" to the Festival of Teaching and Learning Academic poster contest. Their poster was voted as one of three posters that the University of Alberta teaching community has expressed an interest in learning more about in a Q and A session.
