International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia

17 May 2023

Dear students and colleagues,

May 17th marks International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia. This day commemorates May 17th, 1990, when the World Health Organization (WHO) removed homosexuality from a list of mental health disorders in the International Classification of Diseases (ICD). We join 2SLGBTQA+ communities in acknowledging this day and the 2023 theme “Together always: united in diversity” as well as the ongoing work required to support sexual and gender diversity.

To learn more about the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia, please see the following resources:

The Psychology EDI Committee commits to educating ourselves, learning from others, and doing the work required to make our classrooms and workplace more accessible, inclusive, equitable, and anti-racist. Please reach out to us if there is anything we can do to support you.
