Prof Derda - Rising Star in Chemical Biology

Congratulations to Assistant Professor Ratmir Derda, who has been recognized as a Rising Star in Chemical Biology for 2016 by the International Chemical Biology Society (ICBS).

30 September 2016

Assistant Professor Ratmir Derda has been recognized as a Rising Star in Chemical Biology for 2016 by the International Chemical Biology Society (ICBS). This award was established to recognize young investigators in chemical biology who have made outstanding contributions early in their career. Dr. Derda will give his award lecture during a "Rising Star" Special Session at the Annual Meeting which will be held in October at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Dr. Derda's research is focussed on the development and mechanistic investigation of chemical transformations of genetically-encoded substrates. He employs genetically-encoded chemical libraries to attack unsolved problems in molecular recognition and aid the discovery of new therapeutics, biomaterials and molecular diagnostics.
