CSA astronaut Dr. Robert Thirsk, will be discussing some of the engineering, medical and human performance obstacles that must be overcome in order to have manned missions to Mars. This event is hosted in collaboration by the Faculty of Engineering, Mission SpaceWalker, and the Space Medicine Club.

Despite its harsh environment, Mars is likely to be humanity’s next major destination in space. Human voyages to the red planet will be amazing international feats that capture the public attention. Robert Thirsk will describe the hurdles that must be overcome and the technologies that must be developed before the first astronaut crew sets off from Earth to explore Mars.
