SSHRC Research Groups
As part of your SSHRC grant proposal application, you will be required to identify a “Research Group” you deem to be most appropriate for your proposal. These research groups are used by the SSHRC to create adjudication committees that will ultimately evaluate your proposal, and so identifying the correct research group is crucial for the success of your application. The SSHRC Research Groups are as follows:
- Group 1: History, medieval studies, classics, literature, fine arts, philosophy, religious studies, and related fields.
- Group 2: Anthropology, archaeology, linguistics, translation, political science, public administration, law, criminology, geography, urban planning, environmental studies and related fields.
- Group 3: Business and management, economics, and related fields.
- Group 4: Sociology, demography, communication studies, journalism, media studies, gender studies, cultural studies, library and information science, and related fields.
- Group 5: Education, psychology, social work, and related fields.
If your proposal is multidisciplinary or interdisciplinary in nature, and you wish to have it considered by reviewers from more than one discipline and/or area of research, you must indicate secondary and tertiary areas of research and provide a rationale for your request. The SSHRC will then use this rationale to determine the most appropriate review committee for your application.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding Research Group selection, you may contact the SSHRC directly at insightdevelopment@sshrc-crsh.gc.ca or 613-996-6976.Quick Links
