Why study at the University of Alberta?

A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) degree is your pathway to becoming a Registered Nurse (RN), which opens doors to a variety of careers in nursing and beyond. The Faculty of Nursing at the University of Alberta is recognized as one of the top nursing schools in Canada — we are leaders in research and in practice, with many unique clinical placements available. The faculty is housed in the Edmonton Clinic Health Academy, a state-of-the-art health sciences teaching facility adjacent to the University of Alberta Hospital.


Marnie is a recent graduate of the Nursing Honors program and was President of the Nursing Undergraduate Association. She's also a volunteer nurse and a Special Olympics coach.

Program Requirements

Non-Direct Entry

This program does not allow admission directly from high school. See requirements below for more details.

Requirements:

  1. A baccalaureate degree from a recognized academic institution.
  2. An Admission GPA (AGPA) of at least 3.0 or equivalent. Please refer to Transfer from a Postsecondary Institution.
  3. Completion of the following prerequisite courses: English(3), Human Anatomy (3), Human Physiology (3), Medical Microbiology (3), and Statistics (3).
  4. Effective Fall 2018 admission and onward, the following prerequisite courses require a minimum grade of C+* and must be taken within 5 years of BScN program start date: Human Anatomy (★3), Human Physiology (★3), and Medical Microbiology (★3).
  5. Submission of the CASPer test is required to be evaluated for Admission to the program. More information on the CASPer test requirement, dates and deadlines can be found at CASPer

Students must obtain a grade equivalent to C+ as determined by the grading scale in the Faculty of Nursing at the University of Alberta. International applicants' grading equivalences will be considered on a case by case basis

The Office of the Registrar administers over $28 million each year in scholarships, awards, and financial support for undergraduate students, as well as financial and loan advising. Additional scholarships are also available for specific faculties and programs.
